Big Shooters earn medals at Marshfield

SAGOLA — Five members of the Big Shooters youth shooting team attended the annual Winter Invitational 4-H competitive shoot in Marshfield, Wis., last weekend, earning multiple awards.
Jonas Eloranta was the team’s lone competitor in the junior division for ages 9 to 11. He placed third in compound bow, fifth in air rifle sporter and eighth in hunting and wildlife.
In the intermediate age group, ages 12 to 14, Bo Glasheen and Willow Glasheen had an excellent showing.
Bo Glasheen placed second with both his .22 pistol and his .22 sporter rifle. He placed third with both his air pistol and sporter air rifle and rounded out his “five medal finish” with a third place in hunting and wildlife.
Willow Glasheen took home the only gold medal for the team, earning first place in .22 sporter rifle. She also placed third with her .22 pistol and sixth with her sporter air rifle.

The senior division consists of shooters ages 15 to 19. In his first shoot in the senior division, Vandan Pezzullo placed second with his .22 sporter rifle and third with his .22 pistol. Alexander Erickson placed second with his .22 pistol and third with his air pistol.
The senior members of the team will attend the 4-H Shooting Sports National Championship in Grand Island, Neb., in late June. They will represent Florence County 4-H for Wisconsin.
There are three other competitive shoots in Wisconsin before the nationals event.
The Sagola Township Sportsmen’s Club Big Shooters youth team meets regularly the first Sunday of the month at 1 p.m. at the clubhouse north of Channing. With good weather and upcoming events, some members of the club meet more often.
