NC’s Pipkorn, IM’s Pigeon finish strong at Oak Crest meet

NORWAY — Iron Mountain’s Cooper Pigeon shot a 77 and finished third in a 20-team invitational hosted by Norway at Oak Crest Golf Course on Friday.

Pigeon finished six shots behind medalist Stephenson’s Owen Kuehnau. North Central’s Alex Pipkorn carded a 76 to complete the top three individual finishers.

Calumet won the team championship with a 325, finishing four shots in front of runner-up Hancock at 329. Houghton (331), Jeffers (339) and Lake Linden-Hubbell (351) rounded out the top five.

Iron Mountain led area finishers with a 384 to place 11th. North Dickinson finished 12th at 385, Florence took 14th at 413, Forest Park wound up 15th with a 423, West Iron County finished 17th with a 437 and Norway placed 18th with a 440.

In addition to Pigeon, Iron Mountain’s card included Tim Recla (92), Adam Krackenberger (95) and Ketcher Smith (120).

Mason Anderson topped North Dickinson with a 95, followed by Brady Jungwirth and Richard Haney one shot behind and Tyler Fleming at 98.

For Florence, Colt Atwell shot an 87 while Carson Chrisman carded a 91, Kathan Short recorded a 108 and Logan Koski shot a 127.

Forest Park finishers included Noah Starr (93), Eli Brzoznowski (99), Jace Haglund (111) and Nate Bradish (120).

Colin Fritz led WIC with a 99, while Jared Pietila finished two shots behind. Ryan Dallavalle (117) and Dirks Hill (120) rounded out the lineup.

Finally, Evan Moyer paced the host Knights with a 93. Dallas DeBernardi carded a 97, Eli Dube recorded a 124 and Cameron Neville finished with 126.

Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Brayden Beaudette shot a hole-in-one on Hole No. 7.
