Local athletes post wins at Badger Invite

NIAGARA, Wis. — Several local athletes posted victories in the 11-team Niagara Badger Invite Tuesday at Niagara High School.

Meanwhile, the Forest Park Lady Trojans led area teams with a second-place result, while the Florence-Niagara boys finished highest by taking third place.

Individually, Florence-Niagara senior Kamdan Johnson led the local contingent with two victories. The two-time WIAA Division 3 100-meter hurdles champ won both that race in 15.7 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 48.4 seconds.

Team-wise, Suring captured the girls trophy with 133 points and Forest Park placed runner-up with 94. Florence-Niagara (75) finished fourth, North Dickinson (61.5) took sixth, Norway (41.5) wound up ninth and Iron Mountain (21) finished 11th.

In the boys team standings, Coleman topped the field with 146 points. Florence-Niagara (87) placed third, Forest Park (79.5) took fourth, Iron Mountain (58.5) finished fifth, Norway (50) wound up sixth and North Dickinson (32) finished 11th.

Two other individual athletes posted wins in the girls event. Norway junior Lauren Adams topped the field in the 200 in 28 seconds, while Forest Park sophomore Vienna Price finished first in the 3,200 in 13:46.2.

The Forest Park 800 relay team of Lily Sarder, Haven Van Sickle, Aubrey Waara-Shamion and Elsie Williams scored the other local victory in 1:58.5.

North Dickinson’s top finishers were Aunika Lindholm (second in the 3,200 in 13:54.9), Aubrey Applekamp (second in the high jump at 5 feet) and the 3,200-relay team of Raina Ledzian, Taylor Dennocenzo, Allison Steinbrecher and Lindholm (second in 11:11.6).

The Mountaineer girls were led by senior Bella Pickett, who placed third in both the 100 (13.9) and the long jump (14-11.5)

For the boys, Christian Anderson of Florence-Niagara placed first in the 800 (2:15.4) and Forest Park sophomore Vic Giuliani won the high jump with a height of 6 feet.

Two Iron Mountain sprint relay teams brought home event titles. Alex Jayne, Cooper Pigeon, Aiden Ellis and Bryce Davis won the 400 relay in 46.8, while Jayne, Pigeon, Evan Rodriguez and Davis topped the field in the 800 relay (1:40.3)

The Florence-Niagara 3,200 relay quartet of Anderson, Wyatt Dunkes, Owen Dunkes and Evan Park beat all comers with a time of 9:16.9.

Norway’s top boys results came in the 400 and 800 relays. Andrew Hautamaki, Cole Davy, Kaleb LaPine and Mason Trudeau placed second both the 400 (49.4) and the 800 (1:40.6)

The North Dickinson boys were led by Trenton Kramer’s third-place result in the high jump (5-10).
