Bobcat Invite launches track season

FLORENCE, Wis. — The initial area multi-team outdoors track event took place recently with the running of the Bobcat Invitational at Florence High School.
Five area schools participated in Thursday’s meet. Both the boys and girls team competitions were tightly contested.
In the boys event, Florence-Niagara edged Norway 127-126, with Forest Park just three points off the pace at 124. West Iron County finished fourth with 88, North Dickinson placed fifth with 40 and Carney-Nadeau wound up sixth with 3 points.
North Dickinson captured the girls team trophy with 118.5 points, followed closely by Florence-Niagara at 112 and Forest Park at 107. Norway took fourth with 64, West Iron placed fifth with 63 and Carney-Nadeau finished sixth with 44.5.
In the boys competition, Forest Park posted two multiple individual event winners. Senior Kevin Giuliani won both the discus (140-feet, 4 inches) and the shot put (40-0.5), while sophomore Dietrich Rasner captured the 110 hurdles (19.14 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (48.54).

Florence-Niagara junior Truth Setner also posted two individual victories, winning the 200 (26.04) and the 400 (57.84).
Additional individual victors from Forest Park included junior Joey Mainville in the 1,600 (5:19), sophomore Izaiah Tarter in the 3,200 (11:40) and sophomore Vic Giuliani in the high jump (5-6).
West Iron County posted individual wins by junior Saul Kobussen in the 100 (12.84) and freshman Seth Oberlin in the 800 (2:23.7).
Norway senior Mason Trudeau topped the field in the long jump (18-5.75), while junior Dazavian Hannah of Florence-Niagara recorded a victory in the triple jump (39.4 1/2).
Both Norway and Forest Park brought home two relay victories. The Knights won both the 400 relay (Kaleb LaPine, Cole Davy, Anthony Pineda and Trudeau in 50.94) and the 800 relay (Andrew Hautamaki, Josh Schultz, LaPine and Pineda in 1:42).

The Trojans registered wins in the 1,600 relay (4:01) and the 3,200 relay (11:00). No Forest Park relay runners’ names were reported.
In the girls event, Norway junior Lauren Adams shined with three individual victories with wins in the 100 (13.84), the 200 (28.64) and the 400 (1:06.24).
Florence-Niagara senior Kamdan Johnson bested the field in both the 100 hurdles (17.44) and the 300 hurdles (51.74), while Forest Park sophomore Vienna Price won the 1,600 meters (6:11) and the 3,200 meters (14:08).
The Lady Trojans also picked up an individual victory from freshman Audrey Williams in the 800 (2:55.9).
Florence-Niagara senior Marley Jones was tops in the triple jump (30-7) and North Dickinson junior Aubrey Applekamp claimed the high jump (4-6).
Florence-Niagara also posted wins in the 400 relay (1:00.24) and the 1,600 relay (4:47). West Iron County picked up a win in the 800 relay (2:01), while North Dickinson won the 3,200 relay (11:00). No names from the three teams were reported.
