Badgers fall on road at Coleman
COLEMAN, Wis. — The Coleman Cougars scored in every inning on their way to a 10-0 five-inning victory over the visiting Niagara Badgers in a Marinette and Oconto Conference baseball contest Monday.
Coleman tallied one run in the opening inning, followed by two in the second, three in the third, two more in the fourth and finished the game early with a two-spot in the fifth.
The Badgers (0-2) finished with two hits, a single each from Aiden Sweig and Dwight Hedmark.
Remington Buchanan absorbed the loss on the mound. He threw four-plus innings and allowed eight hits and six earned runs. Buchanan walked one and struck out five.
Niagara coach Brad Richtig said a lack of timely hitting has hampered his team so far.
“We have left 21 runners on base in the first two games,” he said. “Just not getting the big hit at the moment. It is early yet, and the effort is certainly there from the boys.”
