Rosters, coaches set for UP All-Star football game

MARQUETTE — The 2025 Upper Peninsula All-Star football game is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff on June 21 at the Superior Dome in Marquette.

Over the past week, the rosters and coaching staff were announced for both teams.

Iron Mountain’s own Robin Marttila will be at the helm for Team Black while Negaunee’s Paul Jacobson is the head coach for Team Red.

Marttila will be joined by North Central’s Leo Gorzinski and Jeff Nason as well as Ishpeming’s Jeff Olson, Westwood’s Tyler Thomas, Houghton’s Tim Driscol, Munising’s Matt Mattson and Menominee’s Joe Noha.

Jacobson’s staff will feature three coaches from Kingsford — Mark Novara, Joe Kriegl and Steve Noasconi as well as Crystal Falls’ Brian Fabbri. Kevin Jacobson, Jeff Niemi and Sam Gilles — all from Negaunee — are also on the coaching staff.

Iron Mountain senior Oskar Kangas was the No. 1 overall selection when the teams were drafted on March 9 in Marquette. He’ll be on Team Red alongside Kingsford defensive end Mason Tappy, Forest Park offensive lineman Kevin Giuliani, Iron Mountain running back Alex Jayne, Norway tight end Landon Amundson, Trojans defensive back Brody Starr, West Iron County defensive end Elijah Oberlin and Kingsford quarterback Nic Novara.

Coach Marttila’s team will feature Flivvers linebacker Thomas Maynard, North Central defensive end Spencer Willa, Mountaineers offensive lineman Bryce Davis, Iron Mountain running back Aiden Ellis, Norway quarterback Cole Baij, Jets linebacker Aidyn Burton, Wykons linebacker Bradly Jochem, Mountaineers quarterback Ian Marttila, North Central running back Lane Gorzinski and Mountaineers center Jake Powell.
