IRON MOUNTAIN — After helping lead the Iron Mountain boys varsity basketball team to a share of the Mid-Peninsula Conference title, senior Oskar Kangas was definitely in contention for the conference’s top honor.

On Monday, Kangas added another honor to his resume when he was named MPC Player of the Year. Last week, Kangas was named co-Player of the Year in the West PAC.

Mountaineers sophomore Brayden Kassin was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Westwood’s A.J. Pizziola.

Patriots head coach Luke Gray was named conference Coach of the Year.

Senior Gerald Sampoll-Torres was Iron Mountain’s lone first teamer while fellow seniors Evan Copley and Ian Marttila were named to the MPC second team.
