Badgers close regular season with victory
NIAGARA, Wis. — Firmly entrenched in second place in the Marinette & Oconto Conference, the Niagara boys basketball team wrapped up its regular season slate on Thursday at home against Goodman/Pembine (6-18, 3-7).
The Badgers (18-6, 12-4) continued their non-conference dominance, beating the Patriots, 53-47.
Senior Cameron Schiefelbein was rolling in the first half. He knocked down two 3-pointers and racked up 12 points. Brayden Bartels added six as Niagara took a 32-22 advantage into halftime.
The Badgers shared the offensive load in the second half. Alex Tripp, Gavin Neuens and Bartels each tallied five points, allowing Niagara to hold on for the win.
Schiefelbein led all scorers in the contest with 15 points.
Offensively, the Badgers also received contributions from Tripp (11 points), Neuens (11 points), Bartels (11 points) and Christian Anderson (5 points).
Now Niagara turns its attention to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 5 Regionals. It opens play on Tuesday at home against Lourdes Academy. The Patriots begin postseason play on the road against White Lake.
