NORWAY — Facing its third game in a week, it would make sense for the Norway girls varsity basketball team to experience a letdown on Friday against Rapid River. However, that wasn’t in the Knights’ plan as they sped past the Rockets for a 62-15 Skyline Central Conference win.

Norway (12-9, 5-2) jumped on Rapid River (3-15, 1-6) right away in the first quarter. The Knights outscored the Rockets 21-0 in the opening eight minutes. They connected on three 3-pointers in the frame while junior Lauren Adams led the way with five points.

Adams didn’t score in the second quarter, but Norway didn’t miss a beat. Kara Stanchina scored four points, while five other players scored two or more points.

Rapid River found its rhythm in the second, scoring five points. It trailed 36-5 at halftime.

The Knights continued to dominate in the third. Lila Kleikamp paced Norway with six points while Anna Falk added four.

The Rockets scored five points in the quarter and they entered the final frame trailing 54-10.

The Knights scored eight points in the fourth, but Rapid River couldn’t close the gap. Norway has won four games in a row.

Kleikamp and Falk each scored a game-high 10 points.

The Knights also received contributions from Ella Wojtowicz (5 points), Abby Richter (6 points), Adams (8 points), Mary Cavagnetto (5 points), Jessa Rossler (3 points), Paytan Carlson (5 points), Stanchina (6 points) and Payton Paquette (2 points).

Norway ends its regular season slate on Thursday at home against Stephenson.
