In Brief: Ortman returns from injury
WASHINGTON D.C. — After injuring his ankle on Jan. 22, Norway graduate Alex Ortman made his return to the court for the Gallaudet men’s basketball team on Saturday against Cairn.
Although the Bison fell to Cairn at home, Ortman made his presence felt with 11 points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes of action.
The first-year guard also recorded two assists, two steals and a block. He was 3-for-4 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free-throw line.
The Bison have two games left in their regular season schedule, all of which are on the road. They’re in Abington, Pennsylvania on Tuesday to face Penn State-Abington at 7 p.m. EST.
KINGSFORD JV GAME CANCELED
KINGSFORD — The Kingsford girls varsity and JV teams were slated to face Menominee in Flivver Gym today.
However, due to limited numbers, the Maroons aren’t able to field a JV team. As a result, the Flivvers will square off with the Menominee varsity team at 5 p.m. CST in the blue gym.
The Kingsford boys freshman team will also be hosting Westwood and that game will be played in the gold gym.
MASTODONS TAKE DOWN UW-GB

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Rasheed Bello’s 25 points helped Purdue Fort Wayne defeat Green Bay 89-74 on Saturday night.
Bello also had three steals for the Mastodons (18-8, 11-4 Horizon League). Jalen Jackson scored 22 points, going 8 of 13 from the floor, including 0 for 4 from 3-point range, and 6 for 11 from the free-throw line.
Eric Mulder shot 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from the free-throw line to finish with 15 points.
The Phoenix (2-23, 0-14) were led by Jeremiah Johnson, who recorded 20 points and seven rebounds.
Marcus Hall added 13 points for Green Bay.
Iron Mountain graduate Foster Wonders scored six points.
The loss is the 20th in a row for the Phoenix.
