Trojans outlast Knights for win

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Forest Park boys varsity basketball team (7-0) rang in the New Year with a challenge as it faced off with Norway on Thursday in Crystal Falls.

The Trojans and Knights (5-3, 0-1) traded punches throughout the entirety of the game. However, it was Forest Park that emerged victorious, picking up a 65-54 win.

The Trojans opened with 17 points in the first quarter and 18 points in the second while Norway totaled 33 in the first half.

The Knights struggled in the third, scoring nine points. Forest Park scored 19 in the frame and extended its lead to 12 points.

Norway outscored the Trojans, 12-11, in the fourth.

Forest Park sophomore Vic Giuliani led all scorers in the contest with 20 points. He also tallied 12 rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Trojans also received contributions from Izaiah Tarter (12 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists), Dax Huuki (15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Aiden Waldo (4 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals) and Kevin Giuliani (14 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist).

AJ Gallino and Anthony Pineda each scored 14 points for Norway. Gallino also tallied three rebounds and three assists while Pineda pitched in five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Knights also received contributions from Bryce Adams (2 points, 3 assists), Cole Baij (12 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals), Mason Trudeau (12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) and Elliott Kraemer (2 rebounds, 1 assist).

Both teams are back in action on Monday. Forest Park heads to Kingsford while Norway welcomes West Iron County to town.
