Northern Lights YMCA shines in Manitowoc

MANITOWOC, Wis. — The Northern Lights YMCA swim team delivered an impressive performance at their recent meet in Manitowoc, Wisc., securing third place overall against seven Wisconsin YMCA teams.

The highlight of the meet came as two young swimmers set new team records in the 1,000-yard freestyle event. Sierra Tatangelo, 10-years-old, clocked an outstanding time of 16:00.19, while her teammate Sawyer Williams, 10-years-old, finished in 17:39.77.

Five swimmers achieved state championship qualifying times – James Carlson, Miriam Gustafson, Dominic Tatangelo, Sierra Tatangelo, and Greyson Williams. Additionally, a number of team members achieved personal bests, with significant time drops from Preston Blixt, James Carlson, Logan Corsi, Allison Deuter, Annika Gustafson, Miriam Gustafson, Archer Koprowski, Forest Koprowski, Kristina Kreh, Catherine Majors, Ella McLean, Izzy Peters, Dominic Tatangelo, Sierra Tatangelo, Triston Trevillian, Elliana Williams, Sawyer Williams, Tucker Williams, Greyson Williams and Cira Windell.

The meet also saw several swimmers competing for the first time, including Claire DeRidder, Leo Hill, Hanna Hill, Mia Peters, Kelsey Stanek, and Isaac Sage, who gained valuable experience in the pool.

Head Coach Aimee Tatangelo expressed her pride in the team’s performance and growth.

“This meet was a testament to our swimmers’ hard work and dedication,” she said. “We’re excited to see how they perform in Green Bay.”

The team will next compete at the Titletown Invitational in Green Bay, Wis.
