Knights rally past Eagles
STEPHENSON — Although the game was tightly contested at halftime, the Norway boys varsity basketball team was too much for Stephenson to handle on Friday.
The Knights (10-3, 2-1) rallied in the second half and pulled away from the Eagles (10-4, 1-2) for a 63-54 Skyline Central Conference-Large School win.
“We shot and distributed the ball well. Bryce (Adams) and Mason (Trudeau) were hitting from the outside in the first half,” Norway head coach Jeff Gallino said. “We buckled down on defense in the second half. It was a good team win.
“Cole (Baij) had a solid second half of play. Coach (Jon) Belaire made a defensive switch going into the fourth quarter and the boys did a phenomenal job executing it.”
Trudeau and Adams each made two 3-pointers in the first quarter and the Knights held a 15-14 advantage.
Norway turned up the pressure in the second half and it turned into points on the other end. It scored 21 points in the third and 18 in the fourth en rout to the win.
Baij led the way for the Knights with 21 points.
Norway also received contributions from AJ Gallino (6 points), Adams (15 points), Anthony Pineda (5 points) and Trudeau (16 points).
The Knights are in Iron River on Thursday to face West Iron County.
