Florence picks up NLC win

ELCHO, Wis. — After falling to Gibraltar over the weekend, the Florence boys varsity basketball team bounced back on Monday, defeating Elcho (0-11, 0-3), 79-54, for a Northern Lakes Conference road win.

“One of those nights,” Bobcats head coach Bryan Bomberg said. “A win is a win. Elcho is always prepared and well coached. Glad we won on the road.”

Florence (5-6, 2-3) opened the first half on fire with Truth Setner racking up 19 points. Carson Chrisman added seven and the Bobcats held a 37-23 advantage at halftime.

Setner scored nine points in the second half, but it was Mason Koski who led the way. Koski scored 13 second-half points as Florence picked up the win. Setner led all scorers in the game with 28 points. He also recorded four rebounds, an assist and two steals.

The Bobcats also received contributions from Chrisman (14 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist), Bradly Steber (4 points, 2 rebounds), Ely Marefke (3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist), Jack Kester (2 points, 3 rebounds), Koski (17 points, 10 rebounds, 1 steal), Carter Reed (3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Caleb Baker (7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal) and Ashton Haberkorn (1 rebound).

Florence heads to Oshkosh Arena on Friday to face Tigerton.
