Mountaineers named to AP All-State football team
IRON MOUNTAIN — Although the Iron Mountain varsity football team’s season ended earlier than it would have liked, the Mountaineers got a bit of good news on Tuesday as three players made it on the Associated Press’s Michigan Division 7-8 All-State football team.
Senior defensive end Alec Haferkorn took home AP All-State first team honors.
He was earlier named the 2024 West PAC – Iron Division Defensive Player of the Year and the UPSSA’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Senior running back Alex Jayne was named to the All-State second team while senior wide receiver Oskar Kangas received honorable mention honors.
