Bobcats’ Kelley Northeast 8-player DPOY
FLORENCE, Wis. — After losing multiple key players from its 2023 WIAA 8-player state championship team, the Florence 8-player varsity squad reloaded faster than expected and finished 6-3.
As a result, the Bobcats were well represented when the Northeast 8-Player Conference awards were released.
Senior linebacker Breyson Kelley took home conference Defensive Player of the Year honors while fellow-senior Sean Cassidy took home co-Defensive Lineman of the Year honors alongside Three Lakes’ Dough Koshuta and Wausaukee’s Tommy Phillips.
Florence senior Logan Koski rounded out the Bobcats’ individual awards, taking home Offensive Lineman of the Year.
Koski was also unanimously selected to the conference’s First Team offense as a tight end. Kelley joined Koski on the first team as a lineman and kicker. Kelley was unanimously selected to both positions.
Niagara’s Alex Tripp was selected to the conference’s First Team defense. Tripp was joined by Florence’s Kelley (unanimous selection linebacker), Cassidy (lineman) and Koski (punter).
Niagara’s Tommy Martin (back), Cameron Schiefelbein (wide receiver) and Florence’s Cassidy (lineman) were named to the Second Team offense.
Niagara’s Connor Guardiola (lineman) was selected to the honorable mention offensive team while fellow-Badger Abain Patterson (back) was named to the honorable mention defensive team. Florence’s Luke Deterville (back) and Eli Marefke (linebacker) also made the honorable mention defense.
