4-H member in ’50s faults funding cut

Barb: Great 4-H funding letter Jan. 16, Ms. Lynne Wilson (“Upset that new Dickinson board cut 4-H funding”).
That took real guts for the Dickinson County Board to cut 4-H funding for children and the disabled in this county. I wonder how they sleep at night — I would not. Just kick those people out of their way, they have better things to do.
(Editor’s note: Schmitt also submitted a copy of a Boys’ and Girls’ 4-H Club Work certificate of achievement he received in 1955 from Michigan State College and the United States Department of Agriculture Co-operating. He explained that through the Norway High School 4-H Program — with Hugo T. Swanson as school superintendent — they “helped promote the building of the Frank J. Molinare 4-H Camp at Sawyer Lake, Channing, Michigan, in 1956.”)
