‘The Tab Man’ hits goal of 2M aluminum tabs

Bouquets and Barbs

Bouquet: Mission accomplished! Two million aluminum tabs collected.

Kudos to everyone — individuals, businesses, WIKB 99.1 and The Daily News.

Jim “The Tab Man” Brolin and grandson Matthew delivered 225,000 tabs to Goldin Iron & Metal Recycling in Kaukauna, Wis.

Because they were for the Ronald McDonald House, they paid double the price of aluminum per pound. They sent a check to RMH Charities Eastern Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, Wis.

Think about this — What if Ronald McDonald House were collecting aluminum cans? We would have had a semi-truck full going down every month.

The final tab count was 2.1 million.

As you know, I will no longer be collecting tabs. Even though this has given me much joy and gratification, it’s time to retire. So don’t take your tabs to town — leave tabs at home, unless you find somewhere or someone else collecting them for now.

Hopefully someone or an organization will step up. If so, please come forward.

Thanks again, everyone.

Starting at $2.99/week.
