Presidential overreach
EDITOR:
What does a king/autocrat behavior look like? The definition of a king is a male monarch of a major territorial unit. An autocrat is defined as a person, as a monarch ruling with unlimited authority.
Our form of government defines that Congress as making the laws consistent with the Bill of Rights and the Constitution, and the Courts to interpret the law when needed. The President is not given the right to make law, or define what a law means.
The President is not there to manipulate or look for obsolete/vague laws to take actions that the majority of legal scholars would reject. The Executive branch is not there to flood the Court with manipulations of the law like some suit happy lawyers.
The Justice Department was intended to be the enforcer for Court and the Congress, not the enforcer for the President and his/her definition of the law or who is in violation of it.
Some examples of Presidential overreach are defining U.S. birth right, threatening law firms that he/she doesn’t like, withholding funds appropriated by Congress, accusing groups or individuals of crimes/unfitness of character with no actual evidence, threatening allies and threatening industrial CEOs with retribution for decisions not approved of by him/her. This is some of the actions of President Trump.
These actions and other actions appear to me like an internal threat to our present and future form of government.
