McBroom’s FOIA work appreciated

On June 15, 2015, I wrote this Letter to the Editor —

“On July 1, 2015, there will be sweeping changes to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Law in Michigan. As stated by Mann & Hare, from The Review May/June 2015 (Michigan Municipal League), ‘The changes impact nearly every area of FOIA, including local policies required for FOIA administration, fees categories and methods of calculation, good-faith deposits and fee waivers, record available on the public body’s website, and the appeal process, including significant new penalties.’

“These changes are for the better. For example, the FOIA Law will have to be put on the city webpage.

“I was not surprised to read that former state representative and now state Sen. Ed McBroom co-sponsored this bill, PA422 of 1976, HB 4001. Then-Gov. Rick Snyder signed into law as PA563 of 2014.”

Freedom of Information Act and the federal Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, has and will produce informed taxpayers that are the bureaucrats’ enemy. I hope Ed McBroom runs for higher office when his term is up.

Starting at $3.50/week.
