KINGSFORD — Virginia Beitel, 95, of Kingsford passed away Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford.
Virginia was born April 3, 1929, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Angelo and Katherine (Carollo) Nocerini. She attended Iron Mountain Grade Schools and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1947, before attending Dundon’s Business College, graduating in 1949.
She spent one year working at Montgomery Wards as a bookkeeper before working at the Commercial National Bank in Iron Mountain as a bookkeeper/teller for six years and then as a teller for four years at the First National Bank of Niagara.
She spent the next 29 years working as a bookkeeper/stock clerk at the Dickinson County Road Commission before retiring on Jan. 1, 1990. She married Glen D. Beitel on June 13, 1959, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain; he passed away on April 17, 1988.
Virginia loved walking, playing cards, working in her yard and flower gardens, and traveling, especially her many times abroad. She also had a special place in her heart for older people and often brought homemade cookies when visiting older folks in the convalescent homes. She had a great love for dogs, especially her dog, Toby. Virginia was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford.
Virginia is survived by nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Susie Flaminio.
Along with her parents and husband, Glen, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter (Erna) Nocerini and Richard (Delores) Nocerini; a sister, Cecelia (Floyd) Johnson; and a nephew, Paul Nocerini.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 3 at the Kingsford Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford. Msgr. Joseph Gouin will offer a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Dickinson County Memorial Gardens.
