Thomas Christian

SAGOLA — Thomas John Christian, 63, of Sagola, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, in the comfort of his own home.

Tom was born in Norway on May 3, 1961, the son of Clarence Christian and Frances (Degenaer) Hood. He graduated from North Dickinson High School in 1979 and continued his education for three years at Michigan Technological University.

On August 14, 1982, Tom married his high school sweetheart, Toni (Jeka) Christian, at the Saint Rose Catholic Church in Channing.

Tom’s early years were spent working in the woods alongside his father, Clarence, operating logging equipment and gaining a deep connection to the land that he carried with him throughout his life. Later, Tom transitioned to a career as a long-haul truck driver, where he continued his work ethic and determination. Whether it was long-haul trucking or working at home, Tom was always dedicated to providing for his family and getting the job done.

A man of great resilience, Tom bravely fought through a battle with bladder cancer, a challenge that arose while he was also experiencing the joy of becoming a grandfather. He was deeply proud of his family, and will be remembered for his passion for life, fiery spirit, and unwavering determination.

Tom will be deeply missed by his wife, Toni; his two sons, Brandon and Kyle Christian; his grandson, Blake Christian; his mother, Fran Hood; his father, Clarence Christian; his two brothers, Clarence (Tina) Christian and Mike (Anna) Christian; his beloved dog, Diesel; and many other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Sagola Community Building on Saturday, March 15 from noon to 3 p.m.
