Robert Decker

FLORENCE, Wis. — Robert “Bob” Decker, 88, of Florence, Wis., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

He was born on March 15, 1936, in Kellnersville, Wis., son of the late Edward and Emma (Stadola) Decker.

Bob proudly served in the United States Marines and later became commander of the Cato VFW, where he was a lifetime member. He was a devout Catholic and attended Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford. He married Shirley Hyskey on July 29, 1978.

Bob had various jobs before working at Brillion Iron Works. He retired from the foundry after 36 years. He played slow-pitch softball for many years and loved going on snowmobiling adventures with Shirley. Bob also groomed the Florence trails for over 16 years. He enjoyed bowling, watching the Green Bay Packers, fishing, and hunting.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; sister, Beatrice Tomzuk; two sons, Jon and Joe Decker; special niece, Barbara Meyer; three stepdaughters, Debra Voegtline, Ruth Kozlovsky, and Rachel Whitford; nine grandchildren; and many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Edward and Bill Decker; and by three sisters, Rose Tadych, Marion Lorenz, and Emily Kozaczuk.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, from 10 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Military honors will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford. Rev. Fr. Michael Woempner will officiate.
