KINGSFORD — Thomas J. Bugni, 82, of Kingsford, passed away Monday, Feb. 3, 2025, at Evergreen Meadows in Norway.

Born April 1, 1942, in Iron Mountain, Tom was the son of the late Peter and Inez (Rocconi) Bugni.

He graduated from Stephenson High School in 1960 and went on to attend Northern Michigan University where he was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education. Tom eventually obtained his master’s degree from Central Michigan University.

On Aug. 17, 1968, Tom married his true love, Mary Kay Lundy, in Iron Mountain. She preceded him in death in 2020.

Tom was a dedicated family man, educator, and community member. He found great joy in sharing his knowledge with others. His teaching career spanned many years and covered several subjects, including art, history, and technology.

Tom was a long-time member of St. Mary Queen of Peace Church in Kingsford, the Golden K and was involved in Friends of the Braumart. He was an avid cross-country and downhill skier, serving on the National Ski Patrol in his earlier years and later working as a PSIA Certified Ski Instructor at Pine Mountain He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, bicycling and kayaking. Woodworking and reading were also some of his favorite pass-times.

Tom is survived by a daughter, Tracy (Joe Schwan) Bugni of Oakland, Calif.; a son, Troy (Jackie) Bugni of Grand Chute, Wis.; two grandchildren, Erinn Bugni of Iron Mountain and Logan Bugni of Grand Chute; a great-granddaughter, Harlow June Vivio; a sister, Mary Beth (Larry) Canavera of Kingsford; two brothers-in-law, Paul (Cathy) Lundy of Spread Eagle, Wis., and Peter (Joanne) Lundy of Howard, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner will offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
