Nancy Stankewicz

Nancy was born Nov. 27, 1932, in Montreal, Wis., daughter of the late Edward and Seeni (Norrena) Norena. She graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1950 and after working various jobs, she found her calling as a nurse’s aide at Crystal Manor Nursing Home. She continued her nursing education at Bay de Noc Community College and retired from Falls Clinic after 30+ years in the medical field.

Nancy loved spending time with her family, as well as cooking and baking for everyone. She enjoyed wintering in Florida with her husband, Tony, and traveled to Finland several times to visit family. She volunteered at St Vincent’s twice per week. Nancy loved the outdoors, golfing, cross country skiing, and she once swam across Gibson Lake! She only sat still when she was blueberry picking. She lived life to the fullest. Nancy was a member of the United Lutheran Church.

Nancy is survived by her children, Sandra (Bill) Novey, Terry Maki, Dennis Ketola, Barb Ketola and Larry (Ann) Ketola; eight grandchildren, Dan Davison, Bobby Jo Davison, Jordyn (Kyle), Maddox, Adalynn and Hudson Kurtz, Gauge Gould, Charleigh Gould; and one sister, Kathleen (Tom) McCole. She will be forever missed by family, stepfamily and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her sister, Eva; an infant brother, Raymond; and son-in-law, Jim Maki.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls followed by an 11 a.m. service at the funeral home. Vicar Lance Crevier will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
