Nancy Heimerl
CRYSTAL FALLS — Nancy Rose (Leanna) Heimerl passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
Nancy was born on Nov. 14, 1933, to the late William and Sanna (Peterson) Leanna in Amasa. She attended school in Amasa, graduating in 1951.
She married Morris Heimerl on May 17, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Amasa until moving to Crystal Falls in 2005. She was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Amasa and Faith Fellowship Bible Church in Crystal Falls.
She loved to bowl and to take an occasional trip to the casinos. She had many friends — with lots of adventures on the road in her later years. She loved playing cards — smear was her favorite. She loved her friends, but most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Patricia (John) Ahola, Jeff (Faye) Heimerl, Peggy (Philip) Ketola, JoAnn Heimerl, and Diane (Bryan) LaChapelle; her 11 grandchildren, Teresa (Nathanial) Kudwa, Adam (Becky) Ahola, Eric Heimerl, Dana (Mike) Tuffelmire, Sarah (John) Freiberg, Josh Ketola, Jordan (Jen) Ketola, Leanna (Steve) Masar, Bryan LaChapelle Jr., Kristin (Todd) Williams, and Kaitlin (Tom) Cvengros; 17 great-grandchildren, Lauren and Talon Kudwa, Mason and Reese Ahola, Tannen and Jones Tuffelmire, Aili, Suzanna and Chase Freiberg, Jonnie and Cecelia Ketola, Fynnly and Marleigh Ketola, Haydon and Minna Masar, Clara Williams and Otis Cvengros; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Rita Leanna.
Along with her parents, William and Sanna, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris (June 3, 2011); and son, Bradley Gale (Sept. 5, 1982). The youngest of nine, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Selma Villeneuve, Margaret Neimi, Betty Shoquist, Norma Schoepke, Pearl Veague, William Leanna, Robert Leanna and Marilyn Rossi; and a granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Ketola.
She entered the Iron County Medical Care Facility in May, 2022. She was well taken care of by all of the staff and particularly enjoyed the Diversional crew who provided many hours of fun, music and crafts. Many thanks to all that provided such great care.
Nancy’s words — “Those of you who knew me, know that I’m united with Morris and Brad and all the others. I’ve lived a good life! God Bless you all.”
Per Nancy’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at the Amasa Cemetery in the spring.
