Lois Stuppnig
MENOMINEE — Lois Anne Stuppnig, 95, passed away peacefully at her son’s home on Feb. 6, 2025, in Burnsville, Minn.
She was born on Sept. 3, 1929, in Vulcan, to Louis and Emma (Menghini) Lorenzoni and was the 10th and last child born in the family.
Lois graduated from Vulcan High School in 1948 and built a fulfilling career with the JC Penney Company. For over 20 years she worked in the ready-to-wear department, where she took great joy in helping customers dress their best. Her warm smile and inviting demeanor made every interaction special, leaving a lasting impression on those she assisted.
Faith was the cornerstone of Lois’s life. She had an unwavering belief in God and expressed gratitude daily for the blessings of good health and a fulfilling life. Her devotion extended to her family and friends, whom she cherished deeply. She was strong-willed yet never one to complain, embracing life with a zest for adventure and an appreciation for the simple joys it offered.
Lois found great happiness in tending to her flowers and tomato plants, especially those lovingly grown by her granddaughter, Tara. She treasured time spent at the family cabin near Shakey Lakes, where countless memories were made with loved ones and friends. Whether gathering with her JC Penney colleagues for lunch or enjoying time with her nieces and nephews, Lois valued connection and companionship. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore new places, including many memorable trips and cruises in her later years to Alaska, Europe, Central America, and the Caribbean.
She is survived by her son Tony Stuppnig (Susan) of Burnsville; daughter-in-law, Margie Stuppnig; grandchildren, Tara Votis (Steve) and Andy Stuppnig (Chantel), all of Marinette, Wis.; Hayden Stuppnig (Katie) of Urbandale, Iowa; and Joey Stuppnig of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Anthony Stuppnig Sr., and her son, Mark Stuppnig.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Feb. 21, at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 2607 18th Street in Menominee, at 11 a.m. with Father Joseph Boakye Yiadom presiding.
A light luncheon will be provided immediately following the Mass in the community fellowship hall at the church where friends and family can gather to share their memories and condolences. A private burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette, Wis.
In lieu of flowers, and to honor Lois’s appreciation for the “Meals on Wheels” program during her brief illness and for her support of the “Coalition to Save the Menominee River” from sulfide mining on which her cabin sat, memorials may be made in her memory to either the Menominee Community Action Agency (Meals on Wheels) or The Coalition to Save the Menominee River.
Lois’s kindness, strength, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
