Gary Vivio

Gary was born May 9, 1962, in Norway, the son of Ernest and Dorleen “Dolly” Vivio (Struebing) and graduated from Norway High School in 1980.

Gary married Debby Summers on Nov. 11, 2011, in Dead Wood, S.D. Gary and Debby met in 2007 at a local music fest and from that day forward they were inseparable.

Gary and Debby spent years on the road from Oklahoma, to Colorado, with most of the time in North Dakota making many memories and lifelong friends, as Gary worked on the pipeline as a utility inspector.

Recently Gary and Debby resided back in Stephenson, as a skilled carpenter. His local work, hand crafted gifts, garden beds, and numerous projects for family and friends will remain a testament to his creativity and skilled craftsmanship.

Gary will be remembered for his smile, optimism, selfless demeanor, his youthful energy, and humor. He was a man that always put others first and valued his family and friends. He assured all gatherings big or small were a success. From the planning to the setup, the food, the fun, and to the cleanup he was there with a smile every step of the way.

He was a proud husband, father and grandfather and loved to brag about his 20 and soon to be 21 grandkids. He enjoyed camping, taking the family out on the pontoon boat, hunting, hanging out with friends at Saz’s Pub, Pool League and local music fests and celebrations.

Remaining to cherish Gary’s memory are wife, Debby Vivio-Summers; children, Matthew Vivio of Mt. Pleasant, Wis.; Mindy (Conner) Kortendick of Mt. Pleasant (Ben, James, Jayden, CJ, Bellamy); Andrew Vivio of Carney (Baileeann, Emily, Canute); Kim Vivio of Mt. Pleasant (Addie); Gregory (Tia) Majkrzak II of Whitewater, Wis. (Liam, Emma, Avery, Owen); Elicia (CJ) Paasch of Menominee (Arianna, Blake); Misty (Brian) Bottkol of Stephenson (Elizabeth, Willa, Amara); Cassandra (Matthew) Alessandrini of Wallace (Cedar, Cadius); brothers, Jim (Carol) Vivio, Ernest Jr. (Hilda) Vivio;, and sisters, Linda (Dave) Bray, Karen (Keith) Dennis, Susie (Mike) Grandaw, many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Gary in death are parents, Ernest and Dorleen “Dolly” Vivio (Struebing); and grandparents, Walter and Elizabeth Vivio, and Lester and Lillian Struebing.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m. at Saz’s Pub on U.S. 41, Stephenson. Food will be served potluck style from 4 to 8 p.m.
