David Dawe
KINGSFORD — David Dawe, 73, A.K.A. Tangler or the Can Man, of Iron Mountain and Kingsford, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025, at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation of Kingsford.
Dave was born in Iron Mountain, on Nov. 14, 1951, son of the late Charles and Joyce (Israelson) Dawe. Dave was a student of Northern Michigan University, Dave (A.K.A. “Tangler”) loved the outdoors, especially riding his bike and collecting cans. A lifelong resident of the area, he was known around town as the original “Can Man,” collecting cans for the last 35-40 years.
He was quite knowledgeable about sports and enjoyed sketching and visiting with his many friends in town, including Denise Martin and her three children, Heather, Danny and Seth.
He especially loved when his college buddies from Dakota House would come to get him and bring him to Marquette to golf and reunite with his best friends.
long with his mother and father, Dave is preceded in death by a sister, Sue Dawe.
A visitation for David Dawe will be held Friday, Feb. 28 from 10 until 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
