Corrine ‘Corky’ M. Miller

FLORENCE, Wis. — Corrine “Corky” M. Miller, 89, of Florence, Wis., passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

Born Dec. 14, 1935, to Margaret and Peter Balzola, “Corky” was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Iron Mountain High School. She married Alvin Miller in 1955, and together they loved and raised three children. “Alvie” preceded her in death in 2003. Mutual friends introduced Corky to Kenneth Johnson in 2007, and they were married in 2008, enjoying many happy years together.

Corky was a wonderful Mom, Nona and friend, always willing to help and always looking for ways to reach out and encourage. She loved to crochet, read, work in her yard, walk and work out at the gym.

She enjoyed family and friends for dinner or Happy Hour basketball and football games, cards, maple syrup producing, a boat ride and living a beautiful life. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Keyes Lake Association and worked on the Florence elections.

An excellent Italian cook, she was willing to share her skills and food with anyone willing to learn and eat. She had a wonderful way about her, loving to discuss the events of the day, a good movie or TV show, or share a great story. We will miss her so.

She leaves her husband, Ken; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Mary and Chris and Ursula; grandchildren, Stephanie and Marc and their children, Margaret, Mirabelle and George; Nick and Erin and their sons, Jude and Elias, Matthew; Claire and Logan and their daughter Ella; Ken’s children, Scott and Jill and their spouses and families; and many dear friends, great neighbors, and extended family.

Along with her parents and Alvie, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann; brother and sister-in-law, James and Connie Balzola; and Ken’s daughters, Jeanne and Jackie; and son, Mike.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, March 5 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home with Fr. Joseph officiating. A private burial will be at Quinnesec Cemetery.
