Shirley Koski-Maurina
1928-2025
GREEN BAY, Wis. — Shirley Mae (Gauthier) Koski-Maurina, 96, of Green Bay, Wis. died Jan. 13, 2025 of complications of the flu.
Shirley was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Crystal Falls. Shirley was one of 11 children born to Henry and Cassie (Jones) Gauthier. Shirley grew up on a farm in Finntown, Wis.
She was happily married to Walter George Koski on Feb.15, 1947, and until the time of his passing Aug. 26, 1985. Together they raised their three children, Sandra Lee Koski, Nancy Jean Koski, and Wayne Walter Koski in their family home in Crystal Falls.
Shirley adored her five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Tanya Koski (son Dylan West), Wayne R. Koski (wife Lisa, children Christopher, Hailie, and Josh), Tara Koski (husband Todd), Angela Boardman (husband Peter, children Stella and Leopold), Darcy Flores (son Felix).
Shirley married Albert Maurina on Sept. 16, 2000, and she had found a companion until his passing on March 23, 2018. Her family grew to include Albert’s children: Todd (Michelle) Maurina, Tim (Dana) Maurina, Shelly Maurina.
Shirley loved to laugh, dance, play bingo, cards, bowling, and cooking up a storm. That is if she didn’t have the Tuesday flu!
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cassie Gauthier; in-laws, Frank and Hilda (Hager) Koski; daughter, Sandra Koski on Dec. 25,1967; husband, Walter George Koski; brother-in-law, Martin and sister-in-law, Clara Koski; her 10 siblings, Bernice, Maxine, Stanley, Alvira, Floyd, Clifford, Genevieve, Jean, Earl, and Geraldine; her second husband, Albert Maurina on March 23, 2018; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley is survived by her children, Nancy and Wayne (wife Gail); grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and her niece, Darlene, with whom she always had a special bond.
Thank you to the Nowak girls and their spouses, who were always there for her through visits, mail, phone calls, homemade treats and a darn good laugh!

Burial of ashes will take place in the spring of 2025 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
