Penelope Lambert
NORWAY — Penelope “Penny” Susan Lambert, 80, of Norway, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.
She was born on Sept. 20, 1944, in Detroit, the first child of Dr. Willard and Ruth (Forbes) Hayes.
They moved to Norway, where Penny graduated from Norway High School and then on to the University of Michigan. She became a registered nurse and worked at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital until she moved to Kalamazoo and worked for the health department.
After her father died, Penny moved back to Norway to help out her mom. She started working at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center.
Penny had many interests, signing and working with the deaf became a passion. Summers were filled with camping. She loved traveling, especially going to Florida for the winters. Dinning out and shopping for bargains. Penny always wanted to share her adventures with others.
Penny is survived by her sisters, Margaret Hayes, Kathy (Dennis) Bal and Delia Chippewa; honorary son, Nicholas Hayes; brother, Paul (Donna) Hayes; aunt, Virgina Haycock; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; daughter-in-law, Mickey Parker, granddaughter, Catherine Baeza; many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Willard and Ruth Hayes; and her son, Joseph Lambert; brother, Peter Hayes and nephew, Zachariah Hayes.
Memorial Services will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be held at the Norway Township Cemetery.
