Muriel Rice

Muriel was born in 1931 in Bruce Crossing to Stanley and Margaret (Ferguson) Peck. During World War II the family moved to Dearborn, Mich., where Muriel graduated from Dearborn High School. She then graduated from Eastern Michigan University and taught school in Dearborn for 25 years.

Retiring in 1991, she and her husband, William Rice of Kingsford, moved back to his home town.

Muriel enjoyed camping and fishing, hosting friends and playing cards. She was a member of Pine Grove and loved playing golf. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.

Muriel is survived by her husband, William Rice; brother, Keith (Barbara) Peck; sons, Eugene (Linda) Ellefson, David Ellefson, Douglas (Janet) Ellefson; grandchildren, Kristi (Rick) Horner, Cindy Ellefson, Emma (Anthony) Abro, Erin Ellefson; and seven great-grandchildren.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Margaret Peck; son, Gary Ellefson; sisters, Marilyn Rausch and Shirley Maples; brothers, Neil Peck and John Peck.
