Jeffrey Bray

1955-2025

Jeffrey Bray

HENDERSON, Nev. — Jeffrey Scott Bray, 69, of Henderson, Nev., passed away very unexpectantly on Oct. 23, 2024.

He was born on Aug. 12, 1955, in Norway, the son of the late Edward and Phyllis (Chellew) Bray.

Jeff was a cherished brother to siblings, Pat (Galen) Steffel, Sally Hampton and Sandy Calvi.

He graduated from Norway High School in 1974. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Jeff graduated from Northern Michigan University water treatment program. He worked in plants in DePere, Wis., Miami, Fla. and then he heard the words, “Go West Young Man” and worked the rest of his career for the City of San Jose, Calif. He enjoyed his working years in California and never looked back to the Midwest with regret.

Upon retirement he made the move to Henderson. There he bought his house in an active 55 and older community. He loved being close to the attractions of Las Vegas and all it had to offer.

Jeff was a friendly guy who loved to visit with anyone interested in conversing. He enjoyed spending time being informed by reading several daily newspapers on his computer in the comfort of his air-conditioned garage. He loved reading about politics and world news.

He enjoyed travel, which included a 30-day cruise to countries he had never explored. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan and loved watching their games on the huge screens at the casinos. He was happiest when driving around with the top down of his beautiful red BMW convertible that he called “his baby.”

Those family members who are left to carry on his spirit, besides his siblings are nephews, Mark (Karen) Steffel, Jeremy Bolek, and Tyler Calvi; nieces, Jen Bolek, Megan (Tim) Chong; great-nieces, Bella Bolek, Gabrielle and Grace Chong; and great-nephew, Kashton Calvi.

He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, who were waiting for him with open arms; his sister, Marsha; brothers-in-law, Jerry Hampton and Terry Calvi; and great-nephew, Aidan Bolek.

Jeff will be sincerely missed by his loving family and all who knew him.

Family will greet friends on Monday, Jan. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Vulcan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at the church with Fr. Marty Flynn officiating.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.
