Gordon D. Jacobson

Gordie was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Metropolitan, son of the late Alfred and Emily (Marander) Jacobson. After graduating from Felch High School in 1957, he worked for many years as a supervisor at Hancock Wood Products before retiring in 2001.

On July 10, 1986, he married Debra Johnson in Iron Mountain.

Gordie enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing with Sparky, going to camp and to the casino. He also enjoyed working around the house and in his shop. He frequently attended Bible study with his dear friend, Wayne Funderburg.

Gordie is survived by his wife, Debbie; his daughter, Lori Guy; a sister, Evelyn Burkman; two grandsons, Matthew (Ann) Guy and Michael (Sky) Guy; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Billy Guy, Keaton and Ryott Guy; a brother-in-law, Todd (Dawn) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Laurie Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gordie was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Johnson and Mary Lee Gibbons; four brothers-in-law, George “Maynard” Burkman, Stewart “Steve” Johnson, Raymond “Ray” Gibbons and Tom Johnson; and mother and father-in-law, Curt and Marion Johnson.

VIsitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Feb. 7 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home with Wayne Funderburg officiating. Honorary pallbearers include Todd Johnson, Jim Jacobson, Matthew and Michael Guy and Chayton Wallace.

Burial will be in Felch Cemetery in the spring.
