Anita ‘Suzie’ Romagnoli

IRON MOUNTAIN — With great sadness, we announce the passing of Anita Sussan (Leardi) Romagnoli, 80, of Iron Mountain. Known throughout her life as, “Suzie,” she passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

Suzie was born Aug. 27, 1944, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of Louis A. Leardi and Frances W. (Thomas) Leardi. A lifelong resident of the area, she graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1962.

Not long after graduation, she moved to Milwaukee, and worked in the city. While traveling back to Iron Mountain with mutual friends, she met the love of her life.

On March 7, 1964, she married Dean F. Romagnoli at Saint Mary and Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Suzie was also a business woman and was the owner/operator of, Sew What’s New, in the Midtown Mall; she also worked quietly behind the scenes giving herself to several charities.

Our Mom epitomized the true definition of a loving, nurturing parent. Her quiet determination, strength, and steadying influence guided our family through life’s many ups and downs. From infancy to adulthood, she was always there when we most needed her.

No matter the situation, our Mom remained a constant source of solace, understanding, and a well-spring of unconditional love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She taught us the importance of solid values, compassion, perseverance and the power of a simple, “I love you,” without expecting anything in return.

Although our Mom is now gone, her legacy lives on in the memories we hold dear and in her love that binds us together still. We will miss her loving presence, yet find consolation knowing she is at rest and reunited with our Dad, continuing to watch over us with the same unwavering love she showered on us during her lifetime.

Suzie is survived by her daughters, Anita K. Romagnoli of Iron Mountain, Lisa (Col. Kevin) Campbell of Holloman AFB, New Mexico; son, Reno Romagnoli of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and son-of-her-heart, Richard A. Cerasoli of Harrison Township, Mich.; three grandchildren, Nels Maule of Kingsford, Meghan (Dr. Landon) Voigt of Parker, Colo. and Dominic Romagnoli of Minneapolis; her brother, Lucien Leardi of West Bend, Wis., and sister-of-her-heart, Rose (Swor) Jayne of Iron Mountain.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Dean.

We love you Mom, Mumma, Mumsie — Until we meet again ….

In accordance with Suzie’s wishes, private family services will be held.
