Margaret Louise Loper

IRON MOUNTAIN — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Louise Loper, beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, who left us peacefully on Dec. 23, 2024.

Margaret was a beloved wife of 65 years to Lesly Loper, a devoted mother to her four daughters, Patricia (David) Kinsella, Tammy (Theo) Harvath, Anne (Tom) Brasure, and Sharon (Kevin) Socia.

She cherished her role as a mother and took great joy in spending time with her family, which included her 36 grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margaret was a loving sister to Pat Bergeron, Dorothy Martin, Marianne Matchett, Ruby Lamprecht, and Laura Jacobson, and a caring sister-in-law to Sylvia Matchett.

In addition to her sisters, she is survived by her brother, Dan Matchett, and her brother-in-law, Daryl Bush.

Margaret leaves behind a special nephew, Adrian Bergeron, who always took the time to check in and see how she was doing and bring her special treats that always made her smile.

He truly had a special place in her heart. Additionally, she leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved who will remember her fondly.

After being diagnosed with cancer several years ago, she lost a lot of her mobility and was unable to leave the house frequently.

She was extremely grateful for all the people who took time out of their day to visit her at home, text her, and send her messages. Those visits and messages truly meant the world to her, and she talked about them for days afterwards.

Margaret was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary Queen of Peace Church. She was grateful to Father Michael Woempner for visiting her at least once a month and offering her communion.

The family would like to thank BeLinda Burke, Aundrea Dunlap, Ann DeClark, Eva Metras, and Claudia DeClark for giving our mom such loving care over the past few years. Your love and compassion will never be forgotten.

The family would also like to thank Dr. Terrence Ryan and his staff, Dr. Gustavo Morel, and Michelle Morel and her staff for always taking very good care of Margaret and for the compassion they showed throughout her bout with cancer.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Dickinson County Cancer Closet.

Margaret’s warmth, kindness, and love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love and family will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A private ceremony will be held by her immediate family.
