Donna Takala

She was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Glenn and Ramona (Miller) Root. She was raised in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School in 1961.

Donna married Ralph Takala in 1961 at the Methodist Church in Crystal Falls, and they lived in the Rockford, Ill. area for 40 years before returning to Crystal Falls in 1999. Ralph preceded her in death on May 29, 2010.

Donna worked in the food service industry as a cook and server. She enjoyed camping, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles. Donna loved spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She made numerous trips to Florida where she visited her niece, Diana.

Donna is survived by her three sons, Troy (Mary) Takala of Crystal Falls, Randy (Tina) Takala of Gurney, Ill., and Michael (Stephanie) Takala of Rockford; five grandchildren, Kristina (Ryan) Watters, Rebecca Takala, Nicole (Pat) Kresch, Randy Takala Jr. and Cyan Takala; and four great-grandchildren, Payton Watters, Paisley Watters, Vivian and Axel Kresch.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
