David J. Anderson
1958-2024
AMASA — David James Anderson, 66, of Amasa and formerly of Iron River, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain.
David was born Aug. 16, 1958, in Stambaugh, to James and Geneva (Elam) Anderson, who survive him in Kingsford.
He was a graduate of West Iron County High School, class of 1976. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in July of 1976. During his military service, he was an aviation structural mechanic until his retirement from the Air Force in May 1998 as a master sergeant. He continued working in that field in the private sector until 2017, when he moved to Amasa. He was married to Christina Smith from 1980-2003.
David enjoyed fishing, hunting, trips to the casino, playing cribbage, and traveling to cribbage tournaments.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Brenda (Larry Baker) Anderson-Baker of Bozeman, Mont., Sharon (Mike) Warner of Litchfield, Mich. and Barbara (Tom) Mancill of Kenneth Square, Penn.; two nieces, Sarah Warner of Howell, Mich., and Katie (Tim) Muller of Philadelphia; nephew, Ben (Caroline Tipton) Warner of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; great-nephew, Calvin Muller of Philadelphia; two aunts, Nancy Anderson of Iron River and Mary Beth Sanneman of Nashua, N.H.; as well as eight cousins and their families.
He was blessed to share his life with many loving friends and will be missed by all.
A gathering to remember David’s life will be held today from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Iron River Senior Center.
