Cindy Plante-Sebaly

She joins her dad, Tom E. Plante; mother, Verna M. Plante; brother, Tom A. Plante; niece, Mindi Plante-Richtig; and nephew, Christopher Plante, on the streets of gold.

Cindy was a native of Iron Mountain and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1975.

She leaves behind her one and only son, David P. (Karla V.) Johnson; and two grandchildren that she loved with her whole heart and soul, Dylan R. Johnson and Alexis E. Johnson. Cindy took great joy in working at Wendys and other odd jobs to care for her son, David, for as she said time and time again; “David and I grew up together.”

She took great joy in being able to spend time with her grandchildren, taking them camping in her later years. They would camp all over Texas and her grandkids even helped name her puppy “Belle.”

Cindy also shared wonderful memories of the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Miss., with her family. This is where she took peace and solace in her Lord Jesus Christ.

Cindy was a proud patriot but was never able to serve in the military herself due to medical conditions. She did, however, take great joy in serving as a community services officer at the Wichita Falls Police Department in Texas.

She took great pride in her son’s military career. All of her brothers as well as her sister and father served in several branches of the United States Military. She leaves behind Michael W. Plante (Marine Corps), Mary E. Plante (Air Force), and David Plante (Air Force). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.

In 2010 Cindy’s life took a different turn, when she found out she had a tumor that would set her and her family on a 14-year battle of on/off cancer treatments. In those years she would fight hard, and in the process would travel the beautiful United States.

This last year she got to take her ultimate trip to Alaska. Aside from travel Cindy loved spending time with friends and exploring nature.

Visitation will be at the Strong Tower Church, 614 Carpenter Ave. Iron Mountain, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 28, with Pastor Doug Trudell Jr. officiating the funeral service at noon.
