Maxine Nolingberg
1941-2024
IRON RIVER — Maxine Nolingberg, 83, of Iron River, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1941, in Stambaugh, the daughter of the late Charles and Maxine (O’Conner) Proksch. She attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated.
Maxine married Carl Nolingberg on Sept. 9, 1961, in Iron River. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in 2022. Carl preceded her in death on March 2, 2023.
She was employed as a respiratory therapist at Iron County General Hospital. Maxine also worked as a counselor at Baycliff and she owned Maxine’s Classy Casuals clothing store. Maxine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Iron River.
She enjoyed fishing, golfing, and riding horses. Maxine was an avid artist, making many pieces from numerous mediums, such as stained glass, ceramics, pottery, and jewelry. One of her favorite sayings was “I came, I lived, I saw, now I am gone.”
Maxine is survived by her two children, Lisa (Randy) Bicigo and Chris (Shelly Fiszer) Nolingberg; four granddaughters, Bobbi (Zach) Anderson, Chloe (Nolingberg) Braunmiller, Keeley Nolingberg, and Rowyn Fiszer; four great-grandchildren, Arsii Ahimed, Wesley Reed, Octavia Anderson, and Phillippa Braunmiller; brother, Charles (Ann) Proksch of Iron River; sister, Susan Fritz of Iron River; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
