Howard Carlson
FOSTER CITY — Howard Carlson, 99, of Foster City, passed away peacefully at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, Wis. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Howard was born on July 2, 1925 in Stephenson. He lived a life defined by service, love and unwavering dedication to those he loved.
A proud veteran, Howard served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, demonstrating honor, courage and commitment in defense of his country.
In later years, Howard was privileged to own and operate Carlson Logging along side of his sons. He took immense pride in teaching life’s lessons to his children, both in the woods and around the dinner table.
Howard found his greatest joy in his family, especially in his beloved grandchildren. Whether sharing his wisdom, telling captivating tales, or cheering at their milestones, he cherished every moment with them. His love and pride for his family were the cornerstone of his life.
Howard married Alice Stenfors in 1949 and spent a loving marriage together for 60 years until her passing in 2009.
Howard is survived by his four children, Fay (Gary) Johnson, Gary (Anna) Carlson, Gail (Brad) Gustafson, Jeff (Angela) Carlson, along with daughter-in-law Rita Carlson and Debra Carlson, 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Howard is also survived by one sister, Millie Carlson of Marinette, Wis.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Carlson of 60 years; three sons, Rodney, Dewey and James Carlson; one grandson, Lucas Carlson; and seven siblings.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday Nov. 23, at the Felch Community Center at 2 p.m.
