Christine Papp

IRON MOUNTAIN — It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Julia Papp, 67, of Iron Mountain, who died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, with her family at her bedside.

Christine was born on June 7, 1957, in Saginaw, Mich., to Darwin and Helen Dennis. The youngest of three children, she cherished a childhood filled with love and warmth. She fondly remembered the Sunday barbecues her father would host, where friends from around the neighborhood gathered. These joyous occasions ignited her lifelong passion for celebrating the bonds of family and friendship.

An outstanding student, Christine excelled academically, graduating high school in just three years. She began her higher education at Central Michigan University but soon found her true path at Northern Michigan University. It was there that she met the love of her life, Charles Papp. They married and shared a devoted and loving partnership for 44 wonderful years.

Christine was a dedicated and loving mother to her sons, Michael and Steven. She built a nurturing home filled with support and encouragement, always urging her boys to pursue their dreams. Her blend of high expectations and tender guidance helped them soar to great heights.

A true friend, Christine maintained lifelong relationships, including her cherished friendships with Doris Khoury and Toni Dennis. She was known for her loyalty, warmth, and the compassion she brought into the lives of those around her.

In her later years, Christine embraced a passion for travel. She delighted in visiting her sons in Europe and exploring the Asia Pacific with Charles. At home, her happiest moments were spent on Lake Antoine, where she cherished peaceful days aboard the boat with Charles.

Her warmth extended to the kitchen, where her talent for baking ensured the cookie jar was always brimming — a gesture of love that never went unnoticed. Her loyal companion, her dog Teddy, was her constant shadow, sharing in her vibrant, loving spirit.

Christine’s greatest joy came from being a grandmother. “Mimi” treasured every moment with her six grandchildren: Xavier, Anna, Claire, Liam, Louisa, and Josephine. Watching them grow and seeing her legacy continue brought her immense pride and happiness.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Charles; her sons, Michael (Amber) and Steven (Meghan); her brothers, Kirk and Jeff; and her adored grandchildren.

Christine was full of life and leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and devotion. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 24, at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, with a memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
