Richard Janczy
1960-2024
ARMSTRONG CREEK, Wis. — Richard “Rick” Janczy, 64, of Armstrong Creek, passed away peacefully on the morning of Oct. 25, 2024, after a courageous five-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and oldest sister.
Born on April 16, 1960, in Norway, Rick was the son of the late Walter and Irene Janczy. Known for his grit and humor, he spent most of his life behind the wheel, running his own business, Richard Janczy Trucking.
When he wasn’t driving a log truck, you could find him navigating the woods on dump trucks, graders, or bulldozers, turning work into art. He also dedicated time to Marinette County Highway Department, Bessie Products, and served as the road boss for Armstrong Creek.
Rick lived with a passion for all things fast. He adored his “toys” and had a special eye for Trans Ams, Ford trucks, Kawasaki four-wheelers, and Ski-Doo snowmobiles. In his younger days, he raced snowmobiles and three-wheelers, always aiming for that first place finish. Rick was the life of every adventure, whether cruising on his UTV, casting a line, camping under the stars, or making memories with his grandson, Danny.
His big heart extended to animals, and his beloved dogs throughout the years were always by his side. During his logging years, you’d often find his loyal dog companion riding along with him in the truck.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Ginger; his daughter, Misti (Shawn Cretton); grandson, Danny; and his sisters, Margaret Taylor, Gloria Dzekute, and Barbara Jakubiec. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless friends who admired his loyalty, humor, and fierce love for life. A special note to his current dog Megan, who had been his faithful companion through his battle.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; and three brothers-in-law.
In remembering Rick, we celebrate the laughter he brought to those around him, his love for the road, and the joy he found in life’s simplest pleasures. His legacy of resilience, humor, and love lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday Nov. 14, at the Armstrong Creek Community Center from 10 a.m. until noon with a meal after.
Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting Rick’s family with arrangements.
