Donald Mott

AURORA, Wis. — Donald Jay Mott, 71, of Aurora, Wis., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2024, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson.

He was born in Keshena, Wis., on Aug. 19, 1953, son of the late Donald James and Helen (Eastvold) Mott. Donnie was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School Class of 1972.

On May 1, 1976, Donnie was married to Nancy Anderson at First Covenant Church in Iron Mountain.

He worked several jobs, including positions with American Motors in Milwaukee, Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., and Procter & Gamble in Green Bay, Wis., retiring in 2004. Even after retiring Donnie continued to work part time for Johnson Equipment & Supply Co. and then Advance Auto Parts of Iron Mountain until 2014.

In his early years Donnie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and bowling. He was a faithful member of First Covenant Church. Donnie was generous and easy to talk to. He had a way of making anyone feel like a part of the family with tales of fishing or hunting with his boys, tinkering around on his tractor, woodworking projects or traveling with Nancy.

There was always a feeling of peace surrounding him that could only be cultivated from growing up with five sisters. Donnie leaves memories of a hard working man, quietly watching his news programs with his coffee mug in hand before starting a hard day of work, hopefully followed by some fun with family and friends.

Donnie will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; children, Jason (Jennifer) Mott of Appleton, Wis., and Joel Mott of Aurora; three grandchildren, Alexis, Hailey and Kaiden Mott; six siblings, Cynthia Strutz, Jo Ann (Gary) Boucher, Diane (Gerald) Anderson, Linda (Tom) Winer, Jon (Donna) Mott and Jeff Mott; brother-in-law Todd Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.

In addition to his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Bruce Strutz and Dave McDowell; and parents-in-law Helmer and Emily Anderson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at the First Covenant Church, 125 E. H St., with the Rev. Chad Harrison officiating the funeral service at noon.

Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.

Donnie’s family would like to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson for the excellent care and compassion.

Condolences may be expressed to the family of Donald Jay Mott online at www.ernashfuneralhomes.com.
