Leo R. LeRoy
SAGINAW, Mich. — Leo R. LeRoy, 79, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 19, 2024.
Leo was born on Feb. 7, 1944, to Leo and Eileen LeRoy (Gothe) in Kingsford. After Leo graduated from Kingsford High School in 1962, he began his career at Ford Motor Company in Livonia, Mich. Soon after, Leo enlisted in the United States Army. He completed infantry training at Fort Polk, La., before being sent to Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, Leo continued his 31-year career at Ford Motor Company.
In the late 1960’s Leo met Linda LeRoy (Herring) in Ann Arbor. They married soon after.
Leo was predeceased by his wife, Linda; his parents; and his brother, Gary “Bucky” LeRoy.
He is survived by his son, Lee LeRoy (Katherine) of Saginaw; his grandchildren, Conner LeRoy and Paris LeRoy; his sisters, Mary Sgrecci (David), Suzanne Matiash (Peter) and Gloria Fugere (Robert); his sisters-in-law, Reylene LeRoy and Retha Hansen (Bruce).
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Leo was extremely social, making friends wherever he went. He loved spirited conversation, reading, bowling, fishing, and gardening (Master Gardener). He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
A private celebration-of-life will be held with his family and close friends this summer in Iron Mountain.
