IRON RIVER — Gerald C. Fitzpatrick, 82, of Iron River, passed away on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023.

He was born on March 23, 1941, in Lansing, the son of the late Daniel and Hazel (Johnson) Fitzpatrick.

Jerry moved to Long Lake, Wis., at the age of 6 with his parents and twin brother Gary. His parents operated Fitzpatrick’s Resort and Bar for many years in the community. He graduated from Florence High School with the Class of 1959. Jerry was a U.S. Army veteran stationed at Fort Huachuca, Ariz.

Jerry married Sharon Webber on June 5, 1965, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian. The couple made their home in Stambaugh for more than 50 years in the family home of his mother. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in June 2023.

Jerry was employed as a lineman for UPPCO for many years. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, The American Legion Reino Post 21, and the Northwoods Geology Club in Florence, Wis.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, making many trips to Wyoming and Canada, and especially deer hunting with his grandson, Braydon. Jerry also liked camping, traveling — especially bus trips with Sheila and Bob, making many friends through the years — making canes and walking sticks, photography, country dancing, genealogy and spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoyed playing Uno with his great niece, Autumn Anderson.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Carl (Michelle) Fitzpatrick of Iron Mountain, Michael (Sharri) Fitzpatrick of Crestwood, Ky., and Daniel (Susan) Fitzpatrick of Iron River; twin brother, Gary (Jackie) Fitzpatrick of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Braydon Fitzpatrick, Jacob and Sarah Fitzpatrick, Nicholas (Bailey), and Christian and Matthew Tsueda; sister-in-law, Betty (Leroy) Williams; brothers-in-law, Don (Dianne) Webber, Gerald (Paul) Webber and John Webber; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Kevin, Dawn, Mark, Julie, Russ and Kristi; and many other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his close aunt and uncle, Bea and Don Cunningham; and in-laws, Walter and Mae Webber.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 12 at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.

The West Side Veterans will hold a pass and review at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel Fosu to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites after the service.

Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
