KINGSFORD — Michael Tripp, 71, of Kingsford passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1952, son of the late Darlene Tripp and his adoptive parents, William and Elenore Tripp. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 1972.

On July 15, 1971 he married Kathleen Tripp; she preceded him in death on April 26, 2023.

Mike worked for Bink’s Coca Cola before retiring in 2016.

He was a member of the Shriners, the Kingsford Centennial Planning Committee and the Kingsford Booster Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and watching his Green Bay Packers. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Michael is survived by his son, Eric (Kay) Tripp; his two daughters, Crystal (Robert) Grandahl and Traci (James Mathew) Garlitz; 11 grandchildren, Mara Tripp and Molly Tripp, Stephanie and Tom Zellner, Garrett and Cassie Gollakner, Sydney Garlitz and Alana Garlitz, Cassie and Cody Porath, and Courtney Grandahl; eight great-grandchildren, Wynston Zellner, Shaunee Zellner, Piper Zellner, Finley Zellner, Hudson Zellner, Avery Porath, Maverick Porath and Henry Gollakner; three sisters, Sheri (Keith) Liesch, Shelly (David) Brown and Kim Dommer; three Godsons, Billy (Tammy) Tripp, Shaun (Kirstin) Liesch and Nathaniel (Kelly) Jones; a Goddaughter, Britney (Jacob) Groeneveld; and his extended family, Joe (Linda) Tripp, Donald (Jackie) Tripp, Cindy (Ken) Rudd, Suzanne McMahon, Bonnie (Dion) Tarsi, Sally (Dan) Deau, Joe (Debbie) Tripp, and Marijane Tripp.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 5 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain, with a service to follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to make donations to Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet.
