David E. LeClaire

IRON MOUNTAIN — David Edward LeClaire, 56, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving wife, and children, Aug. 6, 2023.

David was born May 27, 1967, in Iron Mountain, to the late Gary and Patricia “Patsy” (Farley) LeClaire. David was the oldest of two children with his younger sister, Angela (LeClaire) Ferrell.

He graduated from Kingsford High School with the Class of 1985 and went on to Northern Michigan University where he double-majored in mathematics and computer science, and also obtained his teaching certificate.

David never met a stranger and was loved by all who shared the gift of who he was.

Firstly, David was a Godly man with no shame in sharing his strength of faith. A husband that helped to create a home for Cheryl and himself that reflected the love they shared. A father who was an amazing example for his children and grandchildren. He was a mentor to so many in all ages and a professional in all aspects of his career. He was not only an exemplary addition to any workforce, but also a passionate leader in his field.

David is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Langston) LeClaire, his son, Alexander LeClaire (Jennifer) and their two children, Shawn (Bubba) and Aubrey (Baby Girl), his daughter, Caitlyn LeClaire, and her daughter Emersyn Lu (Punkin).

David’s chosen family includes Charity Railsback, Jason Railsback and six bonus grandchildren: Jason AlecZander Railsback, Brayden Ronnie Railsback, Cadince Railsback, Jason Hayden Railsback-Cox, Kyler Duane Railsback-Cox, Wylder Ray Railsback-Cox.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Gary and Patsy; and sister, Angela.

He will be deeply missed by two uncles, Patrick Farley of West Bend, Wis., and Jerry Farley of Iron Mountain; aunts, Kay LeClaire of Kingsford, Cheryle Fredrickson of DePere, Wis., Alice Farley of Wauwautosa, Wis. and Marlene Ciochetto of Kingsford.

He also leaves behind double cousins, Sue (Ken) Coombe and Pat (Brenda Treiber) LeClaire, both of Iron Mountain, who frequently corresponded with him during his illness, as well as many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
