FELCH — Ronald D. Hord, 74, of Felch, passed away, Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at ThedaCare Medical Center in New London, WIS.

Ronald was born May 5, 1948, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Willard and Genevieve (McEwing) Hord. He graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1966, and married Marsha Izzo on July 29, 1972.

A lifelong resident of the area, he started out in the logging and trucking industry. In 1986, Ron built the Nordic Grocery Store in Felch, which he owned and operated for 33 years. He was also a bus driver for the North Dickinson Schools for over 25 years. In 1995, Ron started Hord Racing.

He and his son, Chad, traveled the racing circuit and had good success and lots of fun. Ron was extremely handy and enjoyed working in his garage. He enjoyed rides on his Harley Davidson and side by side, traveling, camping and spending time with family. He especially loved his grandchildren and always made time for them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marsha; his three sons, Brian (Amee) Hord of Alaska, Christopher (Amy) Hord of New London, Wis,, and Chad (Kasey) Hord of Felch; his daughter, Sara (David) Fleming of Felch; a brother-in-law, David (Lori) Izzo; his sisters-in-law, Julie Fortier and Sharon Izzo; 10 grandchildren, Amber (Luke) Fleming, Genevieve (David) Augustine, Ashton, Aiden, Aubrey, Tyler, Makenna, Morgan, Levi and Ellery; and three great-grandchildren, Tobias, Oliver and Reese.

Along with his parents, Willard and Genevieve Hord, Ron was preceded in death by twin daughters, Erika and Jessica; mother and father-in-law, Carmen and Marcella Izzo; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Izzo and Brian Fortier.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. John Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in the Homestead-Aurora Cemetery.
